Whether you believe or not.....

Romans 14:11-12: For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Okay so let's think about this scripture. I have heard a statement that I find pretty interesting and it's like this: "I'd rather live like there is a heaven and then find out in the end that there wasn't, then to live as if there is no heaven and then find out in the end that there was". Doesn't that strike something in you? That statment to me plainly says this, "Since I want to go to heaven I will do what I need to do just in case" Doesn't that sound selfish? I thought about this scripture today and I am guilty of thinking in this way too. We all have said to ourselves that since we want to go to heaven, we may as well do what the bible tells us. We don't think about the love sacrifice that was made on our behalf. We don't think about what Jesus went through at all. We just think about ourselves and how "heaven sounds great!" so we will go there, as if it were a ticket we brought and we are just waiting for the plane to arrive. How selfish are we as a people. The love of God is just trampled under our big ole feet. I can imagine how hurt God is when he thinks of what he did for you and me and all we can think about is getting our foot in the door. Wow people! There is another scripture that I believe speaks to the body of Christ as a whole:
Revelation 2:1-7 (v.4) You have left your first love......
People of God, listen to cry of our Father...we have forgotten the love we had for our Father when we first accepted Christ into our lives. We have forgotten the joy of our salvation. In 2010, there is so much evil surrounding us and we need to be reminded of the unconditional love that God our Father has for us BUT we also need to remember that God is a just God indeed! Search your hearts brothers and sisters and return to your first love.

Love you all and be blessed.

  1. I see that mentality, but there is yet another mentality too...the one where we see so much hurt and pain around us and long for heaven that we just want to be there...then with all that anger and pain we tend to loose the love that God gave us for others. And that is a way of leaving our first love to me because He calls us to first love Him then extend that love to others. So if we can not extend that love to others because we are discusted with the way the "World" behaves, then havent we forsaken our first love?
Well, I am not much one for bringing a good word, but I hope that gives a perspective that makes sense.
We have to walk in the love of Christ at all times, and when we are lacking we need His word, we need to surround ourselves with other believers, and WE NEED TO PRAY!! My weekness is reading the word enough...so I need to pair up with people that are stronger and then encourage those to be prayer warriers...cause that is my stronger suit.

LOVE YA SISTA!! and anyone reading this..forgive me if I am not very eloquent!
